APELBAUM SERIES
Apelbaum series is an experimental art show marrying visual art, performance and sound. The concept started with the cognitive paintings by Jonathan Apelbaum, first ever oil paintings combined with lighting systems controlled by artificial intelligence allowing to create ambient for any type of performance. They are now used as a platform to welcome interdisciplinary artists and enable artistic explorations. Performers, actors, dancers, designers, engineers and sound designers are coming together to create a unique immersive experience, whe- re the public interacts with the art. The immersive cognitive paintings are continually changing their role in the exhibition starting as paintings becoming installation and also stage for the performances and music.
Touching on themes including power, aging, patriarchy, queer identity, female and non-binary perception of men, hypermasculine stereotypes, tenderness and the family, the event shows how central art is to explore masculinities and social connections, and how to evolve to adapt to our incertain future.
The event starts as an exhibition, evolves in a series of performances and ends up with musical installations, where the format of the last ones varies from sound bath to curated sound performances.
